Humphreys Co. Deputies Accused of Brutality

A week after two Humphreys County sheriff's deputies were indicted by a federal grand jury in a highly publicized beating case, two other Humphreys deputies are in hot water.   Deputy Dylan Scott was fired and Deputy David Fowler suspended for allegedly following a wrecker driver out of Humphreys County and into Hikcman County early Wednesday morning after deeming him "suspicious."   The alleged victim, Glenn "Crash" Capps said the deputies slammed him into a car inside Barrett's Wrecker Service on Highway 50 just off I-40 after he questioned the deputies authority to question him out of his jurisdiction.    The deputies reportedly followed Capps as he left the Pilot Travel Center in Hurricane Mills around 3a.m. Wednesday morning.    Capps had gone there to buy cigarettes and returned to the wrecker service where he works the overnight shift.    Sheriff Chris Davis didn't return Fox 17's calls but the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirms it is now investigating the case.    Last year, two other Hickman County deputies were fired after being captured on video tape in a beating that left Darrin Ring with broken ribs and a punctured lung.    Ring was charged with no crime and was not under arrest at the time of the alleged assault at the hands of the deputies.   Resisting arrest charges against Ring were later dropped.   Ring has filed a civil lawsuit in his beating case.   The city attorney in New Johnsonville has filed an ouster suit to remove sheriff Davis from office.   Video from both of these cases is expected to come into play as the ouster case against sheriff Chris Davis moves forward.Scott Couch, [email protected]
