First of all, let’s establish that, when possible, using real ideas for examples and details is always preferred. This is to ensure the ideas are believable, and you can provide specific and logical details. When searching for appropriate and specific support, think about ideas from podcasts, newspapers, TV/radio news, and your own culture/country/city. Having said that, what if you can’t think of a formal and appropriate example that is real? Make it up! You have to get creative. Some students have expressed disbelief at this idea, worrying that it will decrease their score. The fact is, there is nothing in the scoring system that punishes you score-wise for providing fake research. As long as the ideas are logical and possible, you are actually increasing your score.
