Cohesion and Coherence is the second category you are scored on in IELTS Writing Task 1.

Cohesion describes how your essay is organized, and coherence describes the logic or sense behind your ideas.

First, you should organize your numbers into two categories. The categories must be simple and clear, such as boys and girls.

Then, the important numbers for boys will be in paragraph 2, and the important numbers for girls will be in paragraph 3.

Do not try and make this complicated, or your essay will end up being unclear and confusing for the examiner to read. Organization must be simple to be clear.

Don’t overthink it!

Also, you must use a lot of linking words, and the linking words and phrases must be formal and academic, such as in addition, in contrast, moreover, etc.

Try to include a transition phrase as well at the beginning of each paragraph, as you would with any topic sentence.
