The second hurricane of the Eastern Pacific season has arrived, in the form of Cosme. The storm is currently moving in a west-northwesterly direction, and is likely to weaken soon as it moves over unfavourably cold waters. However, there remains a small window for intensification, and the storm may reach high-end Category 1 intensity in the next 12 hours before weakening. The hurricane will pass very close to the barely populated Socorro Island, Mexico, where hurricane-force gusts are likely to be received there.
The Mexican mainland will not receive any direct effects from the storm, though rough seas will be present along the west coast.
