Steps are below, alot of my games have been purchased from the Japanese store including disgaea 5 which installed in english straight away!

Steps:
1: Create a new user on your switch
2: Create a new email address (if not already have alt ones)
3: Create a new account (dont make a kids account!) at https://accounts.nintendo.com/ Make sure you select the right region you want access to the estore on! **** see optional steps below if an setting up an american account ****
4: Get verification code from your email, return to your switch link the account you just set up to the user you made in step 1
5: Browse all stores in all their glory!

Optional Steps if you intend on making out of region purchases
1: If making a US account, find a postal code where there is either no or little tax, use that when setting up account online
2: Purchase prepaid cards for the region your going to use, from places like cdkeys and play-asia **** DO NOT USE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT OR CREDIT CARD ****
