Women's Role In Nation-building To Be Expanded

The Government will continue its commitment to empower women and give them a greater role, not only in society but also in nation building.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said, while much has been done to push women's agenda, a lot more could be done to help them pursue their goals and dreams.

Speaking at the launch of the 2018 Women Empowerment Year’s, TMW18, logo and branding, the premier said the government wants to give women more opportunities and get them to be more involved in the decision-making process,

He added that women would be included in all major government programmes, including the investment literacy initiative and preparations for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The prime minister also said it was important to improve the livelihoods of those from the Bottom 40, B40, income bracket by boosting their incomes, such as both the husband and wife working.

The countries that have not shown their commitment to empowering women are already aware that if women are set aside then the country cannot be successful. Especially in the era of globalization in the context of industrial revolution 4.0, the role of women is increasingly important and that's why we want to see through our role of empowering women especially this year, so women will get more opportunities, will get more knowledge which is expanding and will be involved more thoroughly in the decision-making process, whether in the public sector or the private sector.)
