The Government is satisfied with the current number of civil servants and has no plans to reduce it. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun today said the government also disagreed with claims by certain quarters that there were too many civil servants in Malaysia by comparing it with other countries. (Soundbite of Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun / Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Subtitle: Our officers at the division secretary level and above have to sacrifice their off days and have to work on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There are officers who wanted to retire but their service was extended because of their expertise. Their main reason to retire was because they feel too exhausted. For me, this is an indication that shows the government actually don't have enough civil servants in certain departments. This is against the claims made by certain quarters that the civil departments are bloated.)
