Cyclone Rusty, after losing some strength this morning, has restrengthened to attain wind speeds of 110mph - near Category 3 strength on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale.
Already gale-force winds and heavy rains are affecting the Pilbara coast, and more is to come as the slow-moving storm moves ever closer to the coastline. Heavy rains are expected to continue in the region, with the storm's winds not likely to get any stronger at this stage. However, the storm is severe, and all precautions and actions should be taken to prevent loss of life and property over the next two or three days.
