A withdrawn teenager enjoys a life-changing summer in this charming coming-of-age comedy. Times are tough for 14-year-old Duncan (Liam James). His mum Pam (Toni Collette) has taken up with charming yet domineering Trent (Steve Carell). Now they're spending the summer at Trent's beach house, next door to over-sharing alcoholic single mum Betty (Allison Janney) and her gorgeous daughter Susanna (AnnaSophia Robb). It's all too much for sensitive Duncan to bear, so he sneaks off and secretly gets a job at the Water Wizz theme park. Here he finds an unlikely friend in the form of eccentric Owen (Sam Rockwell). From the Oscar-winning co-writers of 'The Descendants', this wonderful indie comedy boasts a cast to die for. Multi-talented Steve Carell demonstrates once again that he's equally at home in mainstream and leftfield comedy. Sam Rockwell gives his funniest performance yet, and there's brilliant support from those great character actors Maya Rudolph and Allison Janney.
