2019: INEC Issues Warning To Political Parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says there will be no extension of time for political parties to submit the list of candidates for 2019 general elections. INEC Chairman Prof Mamood Yakubu issued the warning while declaring open a 5 day Commonwealth Election professionals training workshop in Abuja. According to him, under the INEC guild lines, submission of candidates for presidential and National Assembly election is between 10th and 18th October,while that of Governorship and State Assembly is from the 22nd of October to 2nd November,2018. He said the political parties are mandated to adhere strictly to the guidelines noting that the covering letters containing the list of candidates must be duly signed by the National Chairman and secretaries.
