Technology is always changing, especially in the automobile industry, Lauren Fix explains new technology that changed the auto industry in 2012.

"Our focus has been to solve the problem of how do you bring the huge spectrum of amazing content from the web into the car, in a safe way and in a way that car companies can be confident it will work for the ten plus years an individual owns an automobile," said Roderick MacKenzie with Harman.

And we are not just talking about audio elements; believe it or not, facebook is coming to your car.

"Obviously we have a huge amount of internet radio and podcasts, but how do you bring facebook into the car in a safe way? Well we believe the key is to think of it as a radio station and bring it in as an audio format," said MacKenzie.

We will read you the posts from your facebook page in an audio way, and you can respond by voice and post back to your friends page.

All of this is part of a concerted effort by automobile manufacturers to get the attention of generation Y buyers.

"Veloster, our all new car, laser focused on generation Y. It's a blast to drive, it feels like a sports car, a go-cart, a little mini, but it gets 40 miles to the gallon. It costs $17,000, and every car comes with a seven-inch video screen. So it's got all of these features and characteristics to appeal to a wide swatch of generation Y. And as these things go there are probably going to be a lot of parents writing checks for these cars because so much of gen Y does not have a job right now," said John Krafcik with Hyundai.

So while this may be a smart car, all cars are getting smarter.
