Like "ES", this song also began as a rumination on a message board. A guy by the name of Steve MacNeil posted this:
Sometimes it's just wishful thinking
And sometimes it's not even real
Which my mind transformed into the opening lines of "WT" and took off from there. If anyone loves the sound of the snare sample as much as I do, it is from Addictive Drums' "Vintage Dry" pack. Between that and their brush pack (those were the samples in "ES") I have most of my drum needs covered. ;-)
Interestingly enough, I came up with the key change hook ("wishful thinking" at the end of the chorus) trying to find a solution for an entirely different song. It ended up not working, but I liked it, so I decided to see if it would lead to another song.
