Released in November 1955 on Checker Records (Catalog No. 827) as the B-side to "Pretty Thing," "Bring It To Jerome" was recorded on July 14, 1955, at Chess Studios in Chicago and later featured on Bo Diddley’s self-titled 1958 debut LP (Checker LP 1431).

While original 1950s LP pressings and jacket labels legally listed Ellas McDaniel (Bo Diddley) as the composer due to standard publishing aggregation practices of the era, subsequent official reissues, archival box sets (such as Bo Diddley His Best), and songwriter credits properly attribute the composition to Jerome Green (published by Arc Music, BMI).

The recording features a core Chicago blues backing ensemble consisting of Jerome Green delivering the booming co-lead vocals alongside his trademark driving maracas, Bo Diddley on electric guitar and supporting vocal interjections, Willie Dixon on upright bass, Clifton James on drums, and Lester Davenport playing harmonica.

Musically, the track centers around a stripped-down, razor-sharp adaptation of the syncopated Bo Diddley beat.
Green's authoritative, call-and-response vocal delivery drives the rhythm from the forefront, inverting the standard single-artist format of mid-1950s rhythm and blues and establishing the recording as a definitive high-water mark of the Chess/Checker catalog.
