The holidays can take a toll on health problems, especially heart disease. Dr. Jorge Trejo, cardiologist at Mayo Clinic, recommends paying special attention to symptoms of heart attack and stroke in ourselves and in loved ones with a history of cardiovascular problems.    
This is a time of year when heart attacks and stroke increase -- in particular on Christmas Day and New Year's. Some studies indicate that death rates from heart attacks and stroke spike during the holiday season.
