Born in 1993 in Pedra Badejo, Santiago Island, Cape Verde, Almeida overcame a challenging childhood in a remote village without electricity, finding solace and expression through music. She began singing in church and later worked at a local radio station, where she honed her vocal skills and wrote her first compositions, including the song "Nta Konsigui" . Almeida's music is characterized by a fusion of Cape Verdean genres such as funaná, batuque, and morna, combined with elements of pop. Her debut album, Ora doci, Ora margos (Sweet Times, Bitter Times), released in 2014, reflects her personal experiences and the dichotomy of joy and hardship . In 2015, she gained international recognition by winning the Prix Découvertes RFI, an award that honors emerging African artists .
