This video features an adult Great-blue Heron (Ardea herodias) capturing and consuming what appears to be a carp or possibly a catfish. Although common, this stately bird is exceptionally capable of catching fish. Great-blue Herons are slow and deliberate in their steps but can strike like lightning to catch a fish. This video was taken in a small Auburn, Alabama stream to demonstrate the remarkable capabilities of this magnificent bird.
