This is our young juvie raccoon, Spicer who just discovered the windowsill might be a safe place to snack. Little did he know we were using this as an opportunity to be able to take a closer visual of his body and tail to ensure he's free of any injury since he wasn't willing to stay around whenever we came outside and do the visual. He's used to only seeing half of a human through a window instead of a whole body so this was a suitable alternative and he can continue to maintain his healthy cautious behaviour towards whole humans. He looks healthy and is ready for us to bid him farewell. This is the hardest thing for us to do with the young ones, but is necessary so that they don't rely on one location as primarily the sole food source if they're to survive in the wild. We're going to miss him and hope he will from time to time come by and say hello. NOTE: Our rescue raccoons resides in a region where there hasn't been a case of raccoon rabies for over three decades which is tracked by the local public health department. We are fortunate to be able to observe and professional work with a variety of wildlife species since we reside next to a protected wildlife preserve. Our rescue raccoons lounge and play on our terrace as well as use it as a thoroughfare. No children nor pets are ever harmed, especially the wild animals captured in these videos. Please note that none of the raccoons are our pets thus please follow your local wildlife guidelines for the safety of humans and animal wildlife alike. © Weekly Whiskers All Rights Reserved 13-IPH5
