Despite the idea that Las Vegas is a completely lawless, free-for-all, “anything goes” type of place, there actually are some rules and laws that businesses follow. Many establishments in Las Vegas regularly face frivolous lawsuits. These establishments take steps to protect themselves from any kind of liability. A major point of emphasis is to check identification of people who want to enter a venue. Whether you are 21 or 71, I recommend that you keep a government-issued ID on you at all times on your Las Vegas vacation. You never know when you may need it to enter a venue when you’re simply out and about around the strip.

If you’re travelling internationally and concerned about losing your passport, then bring some other second form of ID, whether it is an ID from your country, and international driver’s license, etc. and keep your passport at the hotel.
