The Chamonix Cross Country Race was like none that we've ever seen. It began at 1,036m/3,398' and headed continually UPHILL, ending at the top of the Plan Praz lift, a mere 2,016m/6,614'. We're talking 23 kilometers/14.2 miles of uphill. The only race I can think of that's more difficult is the Pikes Peak marathon with a 7,815' ascent but at least they finish the Marathon running downhill.

Took the Plaz Praz gondola up to watch the finish and watched the winner, Martin Echitler of Germany do an incredible time of of 1:56:42. It was emotionally exhausting watching the runners struggle up the hill. One last race to watch tomorrow, the 2009 Chamonix Marathon. Please don't forget to Subscribe Share and Like. Thanks.
