For centuries, people have been living in Guoliangcun, a cliff village 1,700 meters above sea level in central China’s Henan Province. To change things for the better, villagers worked for five years to carve out a road tunnel through steep cliffs by themselves. It now draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. CGTN’s Xu Mengqi is on site to show how the dangerous road was built.
