The Dwingelderveld National Park lies in the green south-west of Drenthe in The Netherlands and was established in 1991. This nature reserve encompasses an area of 3,692 hectares and is renowned for being the largest moorland on the contintent. On the moors, but also in the woodlands, there are more than sixty beautiful fens to be found. The mysterious Juniper shrubs are impressive and form the background for many a legend. Nature's diversity here allows hundreds of different sorts of plants and animals to thrive, many of which are otherwise threatened in our country. Nationaal Park Dwingelderveld ligt in Zuidwest-Drenthe en is opgericht in 1991. Het 3692 ha grote natuurterrein is vermaard als grootste natte heidegebied van Europa. In de heide, maar ook in de bossen liggen meer dan 60 schitterende vennen verscholen. Opvallend zijn de geheimzinnige jeneverbesstruwelen, decor van menige legende.
