ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. - After being caught red handed, a burglar begged a homeowner not to call police, but it was too late. Randy Lening crashed his car trying to get away and then took off on foot. Authorities tracked him for 2 hours form the air and ground. They found him hiding in the crawl space under a house on Old Clarksville Highway. Lening confessed to kicking in the back door of what turned out to be an empty house on Peter Pond Road a few miles away. A tearful Lening confessed, saying he was addicted to prescription painkillers, and turned to crime to support his drug habit.I need help off these drugs, says Lening. It's awful. I need help. I need help. I don't want to live like this. I know better.The Sheriff's Department says Lening is headed back to prison because he was on parole for a similar crime at the tiem of the break-in.
