The first storm of the 2015 Western Pacific Typhoon Season is Mekkhala, Philippine name Amang. The storm is likely to strike the island of Samar before weakening and dissipating over the South China Sea.
The storm is likely to dump heavy rain over Samar, Leyte, Masbate, and southeastern Luzon, which are also under Signal #1 Warnings at this time.
