Music and memories. ;-)
----------------------------

There's no mystery
Why we sometimes land on the ground
As long as we're here we'll spin
Like kids playing rosey

All fall down

Can't change history
But we can pull ourselves off the ground
As long as we're here we'll spin
Like kids playing rosey

All fall down

After all, we spin together
Like kids playing rosey, back off the ground
------------------------------------

If I did my job right, this song should be about the ups and downs of life, and how they can't be avoided, they can only be played.

Like most of my songs, "All Fall Down" arrived partially illuminated, in this case it was the title line in the refrain that appeared first. I considered changing it, or working to make the nursery rhyme reference more opaque, but ultimately decided to play into it instead. Due to the subject matter, as well as my kids helping out with some vocals at the end, it seemed only fitting that the vid be set to a collage of memories, new and old. Special guest appearances by Grammy Jean and the greatest two year old mullett the world has ever seen. ;-)

Please pardon a few tips of the cap.

First, my daughter is the one who came up with the melody at the end of the song, as well as the idea for the vibrant "DOWN!!!!" as the song is fading. Thank you, Angelika, the song is much better for both of those decisions.

I also have to offer boatloads of gratitude to my friends over on Harmony Central for helping get the percussion under control. One generous artist even took an early version of the song and put together a drum track, sending over the midi file for me to use, something that must have taken him several hours considering how detailed it was. I used much of that track as is, and what's more, being able to see a well done midi drum track taught me more about percussion than I had learned in my previous 38 years.

I hope you take the time to check out his music. He writes truly brilliant songs, some of which have been picked up in films and TV shows, making his time donation to my project even more impressive.
