The house we recently bought does not have a wood burning stove or fireplace. This winter the temperature got down to -9 degrees, that's pretty cold. If the power were to go out, there would be no way to keep my family warm. I decided we needed a back up. After a lot of research I decided to try out this Mr. Heater Big Buddy. Not only did this heater maintain the temperature of the house but, it actually raised the temp about 1 degree every ten minutes. I was surprised by that because I had it in the living room which is open to most of the house.
