EA CEO John Riccitiello is going to resign on March 30, it has been revealed. The CEO did not go into specifics, but EA has stated that this was a mutual decision. A shake up at EA was due after a hard last few months for the publisher. They had to deal with not only the disaster area that was the SimCity 5 launch, but also several AAA games not pulling in the money / profits expected by EA and their shareholders. 

Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Medal of Honor Warfighter did not do as well as EA hoped for, which actually caused EA to decide against a Dead Space 4 game. Some speculated this was because of gamers boycotting DS3 due to the micro transactions, and this was probably right. 
As well as this, EA took quite the hit from Star Wars The Old Republic, which barely even made a sixth of World of Warcraft's player base and has been flailing around ever since with poor numbers and subscriptions.
