I've been listening to "Masters of Doom", the audio-book about the history of ID Software, and loving it! It was Quake that absolutely jolted me back into the world of games, after having gotten more absorbed by music, and playing in bands throughout high school. Suddenly, arriving at one band rehearsal, our drummer had set up Quake... and we were hooked! I loved it! And I started building levels for it. And 20 years later, I find I'm now teaching and developing games, full time... apparently this is my profession in life! Anyway, I got into playing Quake again this Christmas holidays (actually playing Epsilon Quake - very cool), and then wanted to make a Grenade Launcher, one of my favorites weapons from the game. Now I want to make a full Quake-like game, complete with monsters, traps, keys, crazy levels, cool monsters, etc! I've also been inspired by games like Dusk, and I've started to do more of my own 3D modeling (Maya) and texturing (Substance)... I built the quick Grenade Launcher and Grenade that you see in the video here... :D
