The basic premise of each is, you and others will be trapped in a room. Your group must figure out how to Escape the room. This room is filled with puzzles and clues that will ultimately lead to your escape. You must use teamwork, cunningness, and speed to solve the escape room puzzles and win the game. The average length of each game ranges from 30 - 60 minutes. If you do not escape the room in the allotted time, you lose. These live escape rooms were first developed in 2007 by Takao Kato in Kyoto Japan. He was inspired by the popularity by of online escape games and decided to bring that idea into the real world. In 2012, the concept came to the U.S. and other parts of the world. Now there are numerous Escape Room Locations where patrons can pay to have themselves locked in a room.
