A dad has set a world record after travelling the length of the British Isles on a LAWNMOWER to raise money for charity.

Andy Maxfield, 49, drove at nine miles per hour from John O’Groats in the north of Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall – a total of 874 miles.

The prison officer took on the challenge in July 2017 to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society as his beloved dad, who sadly passed away in January this year, suffered from the disease.

Andy only found out this week that he'd achieved his goal of setting a Guinness World Record and now officially holds the title for the fastest journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End on a lawnmower.

The mower enthusiast has so far raised £9,300 for the Alzheimer's Society after completing the challenge in five days, eight hours and 36 minutes on a trusty £15,000 John Deere X750 machine.
