Beyond Reality - Top Chef Vegas Recap 9/09/09 Last week on Top Chef Preeti was sent home. This week its all about classic French Cuisine. Guest Judge is Daniel Boulud. Quickfire challenge - chefs have 45 minutes to create a dish using escargots (snails). Its a high stakes challenge though - the winner gets immunity and the loser goes home. Top - Mike, Kevin & Jennifer. Kevine wins immunity for his fricassie plus a bonus. Bottom - Jesse, Ashley & Robin. They all get a second chance - they have 20 mins to make an amuse bouche with anything in the kitchen. In the end Jesse is sent home for her tuna tartare & quail egg amuse. Everyone except Kevin draws knives for the Elimination challenge. Each of the knive has either one of six classic french proteins or sauces. Kevin's bonus is to dine with the judges who are all French Culinary Icons. They have a $200 budget & 30 minutes at Whole foods. They will be cooking in Joel Roubuchon's kitchen. Happy 29th birthday Mattin! Judges - Daniel Boulud, Hubert Keller, Jean Joho, Laurent Tourondel, Tom, Gail, Padma & Joel Robouchon. Top - Bryan & Mike, Jennifer & Michael. Bryan wins & gets to stodge for a week in Joel Robouchon's kitchen. Bottom - Hector & Ash, Mattin & Ashley - Hector is eliminated because he wasn't able to properly cook a piece of meat. Next week - They're on the wagon train!
