I will continue to post the videos and every now and then, post camp out and meet up invites BUT, my days of arranging group hikes is over. People are people and well, enough said. It's a losing battle trying to make them happy. The negativity is holding me down and it feels like I'm drowning. On my last group meet up, I met someone who reminded me of the fact it is my time, she got me back on track, so to say. So, one last time we play the game! If you live on the south side of the San Gabriel mountains, drive to and park at Heaton flats parking lot. Search it on maps, you can find it. If not, you have no business backpacking. Be there no later than 6:30 pm Friday June 16th. We will park out vehicles there and carpool in a few down and around the mountain to mt Baden Powel parking lot. There, we will set a game plan, Ill hand you a printed out schedule. We hike about 4 miles down and camp for the night. It is almost all down hill. Trekking poles suggested. Head light a must. Below you will see a minimum of pack items, be sure to read all. It is a hammock, tent, bivi and or cowboy camp friendly weekend. We will spend Friday night, Saturday and Sunday half to three quarter day out. Get back to Heaton around 3pm, then drive back to other cars at Baden Powel. It is 87 miles lot to lot, have plenty of gas in cars. The cars and or trucks we choose to carpool in, the riders pay the gas for the drivers. It is only fair. Estimated time back to Baden if we leave Heaton at 4pm, is 6pm, then getting back around to o.c. And L.A. About 8pm. One long day but the memories are worth the time and effort. If you live on the North side, you have the option to park either place, heaton of Baden Powell, IF we get out of Heaton Flats by 3 or 4pm, I want to caravan down the hill a couple miles to a historical Canyon BBQ for pulled pork and home made slaw. The best you ever had, with a ice cold beer to celebrate or bonding on the trail. New friends, great food, cold drink and stories exchanged. Now, you will need at least A tent, tarp, bivi or hammock, sleeping bag, pad or if hammock, under and over quilts, sun screen, deet or bug head net, cook set, water filter, head light, flash light, extra batteries, stove, fuel, lighter, small knife, Large trash bag, 50' of 550 cord, hygiene kit, spare socks, clothing you may need, hat, canteen or water bladder, any mads, allergy, aspirin, etc. food for friday night, through sunad mid day. (ILL TAKE 2 MEALS, 2 BREAKFASTS, 2 SNAKS, 2 COFFEES, 2 GATORAID MIX, 2 TEAS AND SOME JERKY. Maybe 2 pieces of fruit. Ace bandage IF you have leg of knee issues, a little DAWN dish soap in a tiny bottle, removes poison oak before it gets you. WE WILL bump into this all weekend. A loud whistle, cheep highly reflective emergency heat sheet for being seen if you wander off. , spork, lip balm, I like carmax, AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU THINK YOU NEED BUT PLEASE, have some honor and abide by the list of no take items.
