Dad opens his Christmas gift and tells one story here of many on Christmas Eve 1999 from his Army days during the Korean War era after receiving his Army-issue sidearm back after over 40 years (Colt 1911A1 .45 acp). The stories poured out as he held and got reacquainted with a weapon he never had to use, but it meant so much. Mom made him sell this gun when I was born in 1958...I found it in one phone call in Nov 1999. A very long story, but it sure felt good to give Dad back something that symbolized a meaningful part of his life after he had given so much to my life. Dad passed on Dec 17, 2002. I salute him, too.
