CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- Yet another study says coffee may have hidden health benefits. Anyone who has ever worked in the emergency department, or at least the schedule for it, may understand the need for coffee. Which is why Local 12's medical reporter, Liz Bonis, stopped out at the Bethesda North Hospital Emergency Department Wednesday to tell you more about this research. Researchers at Harvard found those who got six cups of coffee a day, 8 ounces each, were able to lower risk for diabetes by 33 percent. Now you don't actually have to get six cups. Each cup however, did up the odds. But even if you get less you get some of the benefit. Nobody is exactly sure why but it's possible it ups the odds of activity in the day. This can help lower weight and diabetes. If you have questions about diabetes risk talk to your doctor. If you are a coffee fan this may be a good reason to add it to your diet.
