Incidents of sexual assault at the Vukuzenzele special school in Mbizana in the Eastern Cape are said to be rife. At least five cases have been reported to the police in the past year. The sexual abuse came to light after the SABC reported on the death of 10-year-old Aphiwe Msexy who was allegedly strangled to death by two schoolmates at the school premises last Friday.
