I got 2 old 1U blade servers for free, so after salvaging any IC's that I wanted to keep for my chip collection, I decided to have some fun.

I used my custom bench power supply cranked up to 30VDC and up to 10A and dragged a pair of sacrificial leads over the motherboards to see what chips would fry.

In a lot of the video you can see the internal bonding wires catching fire in the IC packages. Ceramic capacitors have a tendency to burn very brightly, almost as bright as magnesium. unfortunately I could not get to the connection for the SMD electrolytic capacitors to watch them blow.

This is my first time playing with slow motion. It was shot using my Samsung Galaxy S7 Active @ 240fps 720P. There was a lot of flicker in the videos and I believe I cleared up most of it.

This was just to have a little bit of fun. If people like this sort of entertainment, I would be willing to source more circuit boards for destruction and turn this into a series. If so, please leave a comment below.
