If you aren't already using lead magnets to build your e-mail list, you definitely should be. It's one of the best ways to increase conversion rates for capturing e-mails once people come to your site or your blog article or even a guest post that you’ve provided. Find out more about what they are and how to create them in this episode, and start building a list for your course with Thinkific: http://thnk.cc/1QMkN1d Create your own online courses at: http://thinkific.com/ Visit our blog: http://blog.thinkific.com And ask us your questions with #teachonline at: http://www.twitter.com/thinkific http://www.instagram.com/thinkific http://www.facebook.com/Thinkific Transcript: A lead magnet can also be referred to as a “bribe”, I don't really like that term but a bribe, lead magnet, content upgrade, but whatever you call it. But basically it's an additional free piece of content that you give to someone in exchange for their e-mail. So often they have already come to your site or a post that you have made, or somewhere where you have an online presence, they are usually already getting some content from you for free and now you're offering this additional piece in exchange for the e-mail so they sign up and then they get as a download or it's sent to them or they get access to a free course. Now this dramatically increases your conversion rates for capturing those e-mail addresses. If you just ask someone to subscribe to your blog or grab an e-mail address, you might be lucky with 1%, 2%, 6%, 10% conversion to e-mail addresses. But when you start giving away a lead magnet, something additional of value for free, you're going to drive that up to 20, 30% and we've seen examples up in 50 and 60+ percent conversion rate to grab those e-mail addresses. So you could easily double, triple or more the size of your e-mail list by offering lead magnets. And I would suggest any time you're putting content out there, any time you’re educating people, you're putting out a video, you're putting out a blog post, to include a lead magnet as an additional way to capture e-mail addresses. And you can even do this if you are doing guest posts on other people's sites. Now, some of the things you can include as lead magnets would be PDFs, e-books, quick shortlists really work exceptionally well, how to guides, things like this, things that are showing people how to do something. Generally it works if they are fairly succinct but I've seen people do well with some very large lead magnets as well. And there is a number of ways to deliver them. You can actually use Thinkific to deliver your lead magnets so you could just drop your PDF or e-book or video series or single free video into essentially a Thinkific course and use that as a lead magnet to give away. And if you want to be able to embed it in other places even on guest blog posts, you could use the sales widget, so you can hop in and very quickly in few seconds create a little button that links to the ability to grab that lead magnet no matter where people are. And I would really encourage you to take advantage of this and any time you're out there sharing your valuable of expertise, throw in a lead magnet and watch how fast you will capture additional e-mail addresses. And then of course you can turn those into clients for business. Now to take my own advice, I'm going to show you how this works and you’ll see in the link below a place where you can go and grab my lead magnet which is going to give you a quick guide on how to create your own lead magnets. And if you're looking for more advice, there is another great place where you can get more advice on this and this is over from Bryan Harris at Videofruit and I'm going to throw a link to his article, a great article about how to create lead magnets very quickly, how to use them and really everything you need to know about lead magnets. So grab our quick guide and then go check out Bryan Harris’ article on how to use lead magnets.
