Prostate cancer: Man told to 'wait' by doctor is CURED after researching THIS treatment A PROSTATE cancer patient told to ‘sit and wait’ to see how a tumour developed has been cured after paying for private treatment abroad. John O’Kelly, 66, from Northamptonshire was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago. Rather than being offered surgery he was instead advised to wait to see how the tumour progressed by his NHS doctors. John, a former serviceman, waited for 18 months as the levels of PSA - a protein associated with prostate cancer - in his body continued to rise. However, he decided to do his own research - and opted to travel to the Czech Republic for Proton Beam Therapy, a type of treatment not yet offered on the NHS. He is now cancer-free, said he has ‘no regrets’ about seeking treatment outside the UK, and is urging other men to do the same.
