Kirk has passed, and is now a remnant cyclone in the northern Atlantic ocean. The storm intensified into a strong Category 2 hurricane with 105mph winds and a pressure of 970mb before pulling away to the northeast. Kirk was the 11th named storm, fifth hurricane and the second Category 2 storm of the season. There haven't yet been any major hurricanes this year.
