Three sparky girls shake up a male-dominated campus in this witty screwball comedy. Queen bee Violet (Greta Gerwig), principled Rose (Megalyn Echikunwoke) and cute Heather (Carrie MacLemore) are three young women on a mission. Seven Oaks college went co-educational decades ago, but an atmosphere of 'male barbarism' still prevails. But the trio are determined to change things with their campaign against low standards. New student Lily (Analeigh Tipton) is swiftly swept up into their orbit. Selfless Violet explains that it is every girl's duty to date boys who are more stupid and ugly than themselves. That's the only way to raise the quality of the male population. And being in charge of the campus suicide prevention centre means they also have ample opportunity to combat depression - with doughnuts and dance routines! Fourteen years on from 'The Last Days of Disco', cult writer/director Whit Stillman makes a welcome return with this smart, charming and whimsically offbeat comedy.
