CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The head of Cincinnati's metro system quit unexpectedly Tuesday. Dwight Ferrell resigned during an executive session following Metro's regularly scheduled meeting. He said it was his decision, but it comes at a crucial time as ridership continues falling and the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, which runs metro, predicts major budget holes over the next decade. Just Monday, Metro announced it won a $26-million federal grant that will pay for 70 new buses. Twenty-seven will be in service in two weeks. The rest will be ready to go in 2019. The buses will replace the oldest in an aging fleet. They'll all be equipped with WiFi, vinyl seats and outlets to charge phones.
