(11 Oct 2018) Small crowds began to gather in Windsor on Thursday as security was stepped up ahead of the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, due to be married in St. George's Chapel on Friday.
With Eugenie just ninth in line to the throne, the atmosphere was subdued compared to her cousin Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle in May.
On Thursday there was little sign of Eugenie fever on the streets and in tourist shops, although two royal enthusiasts said they'd been camping outside the castle since Tuesday to ensure a prime view of the festivities.
There's been public criticism of Eugenie and Brooksbank's decision to go for a lavish wedding - particularly a carriage procession after the wedding ceremony with security costs being financed by taxpayers.
The couple are following a precedent set by Harry and Meghan by inviting 1,200 members of the public to the castle grounds for a better view of Friday's celebrations.
It's not clear how many visitors will come to Windsor, a riverside town about 20 miles (32 kilometers) west of London.
Part of the draw will be the chance to catch a glimpse of the queen and other royals, including William and his wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and their two young children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
