For the latest news across Belize, visit: http://edition.channel5belize.com/ Children playing with matches may have been the cause of a house fire on Wednesday afternoon that has left a family of five without a roof over its head. That’s according to the National Fire Service. Earlier today, Station Officer Orin Smith confirmed what was initially speculated by homeowner Ezbert Ramclam when his home went up in smoke. He believes that a group of children may have been responsible for the fire that destroyed his elevated wooden home on Fern Lane. The flames, Ramclam told News Five at the scene of the incident, emanated from beneath the structure and quickly engulfed it fire. Aside from establishing that the blaze was not the result of an electrical short, nor was it an act of arson, Smith took the time to warn parents about leaving children at home unattended during the summer vacation.
