Helicopter Landing From Hover Air Cushion. Here is a small tip that is very important! If you understand the Air Cushion that happens when the helicopter skids are 6 to 8 inches above the ground, it can save you alot of trouble! Footage in this video shows the common problem Helicopter Students have!

If you have a nice slow decent when lowering the Helicopter Skids down the the ground, as you should be, know that there is a air cushion. When you get to that cushion, it takes a very slight downward push on the collective to get the helicopter down.

If you lower the helicopter at a fast pace, you will go right through this air cushion and you won't notice it. It is only when you are lowering slowly.

This is a small fact that can cause you to overcontrol the aircraft. The ground is there, you will find it! Just make sure you focus 50 to 75 feet ahead of the aircraft, don't look at the ground ahead or beside you.

Just lower the collective slowly, when you are almost down and you hit that cushion, "Use The Force Like!"
