Ohio father sues football helmet makers after son's death

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WKRC) - The father of a former star quarterback at an Ohio high school is suing the maker of football helmets.

Cody Hamblin played for Miamisburg High School. He died in 2016 at the age of 22 after suffering a seizure and falling out of a boat while fishing.

The wrongful death suit claims his death was tied to the brain disease CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy. The suit alleges negligent design of the helmets led to the condition.

The helmet company has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
