The day of love and romance is here.. and the sun shine we saw this morning has florists breathing a sigh of relief. Snow definately affects our business, said Rob Johnson, the President of Humphreys Flowers in Chattanooga, but luckily for this holiday it has not has much of an affect.I'm happy that it came a couple days ago instead of today, continued Johnson. Valentine's Day plans are made months in advance. We'll probably end up delivering probably 500 orders for Valentine's Day and then another 200 people will come in and pick things up, said Johnson. Humphreys rents extra trucks and brings in additional delivery drivers just for today. Its become kind of tradition for a lot of people who come back here and help out driving for Valentine's Day., said Johnson. Ron Smith is one of those drivers. I enjoy meeting the people and seeing the expressions on their face, said Smith, [they say] 'What is this for?' 'who did this?'Smith worked for 10 years with Humphreys before retiring. Today, he returns and is quite popular. The girls all flitter around at the bank or wherever when you bring them in, said Smith, who continued saying the girls ask, is that for me? Is that for me?Earlier this week Smith's driving concerns grew as inches and inches of snow fell from the sky. I worried about it because this is a big big day for all florists, said Smith. But with the threatening weather all dried up, the entire Humphreys crew is working fast to bring flowers, balloons, candy, and stuffed animals to customers. I'm ready to go, said Smith, lets load the trucks and get out of here.
