'96 BMW 328is Idle hang below 3000RPM.

I am tapping the accelerator and sharply letting go of it.
Notice that below 3000rpm, the idle seems to hang for about a second.
I'm wondering if this is normal for a manual e36 2.8..

Really makes shifting a pain in the ass in the city, as you have to hold the clutch in for a second or longer. No other manual car i have driven acts like this.
