Gold medal playthrough of the Red Dead Redemption 2 mission "A Fork in the Road."

Gold medal requirement:

- Complete within 3 minutes 5 seconds

TIP #1 - The timer on this mission appears a tad buggy. That or the microseconds between pressing buttons matters more than any game designer should have made matter. Either way, this mission timed is a terrible gold medal to go for. Unless you're lucky, expect to get bronze over and over until you're lucky enough to be granted gold.

TIP #2 - I don't think you need to skip cut scenes to complete this, but I ended up skipping them because I had to replay the mission multiple times to get the timer to register a completion within the right time frame, despite doing 100% the exact same thing every time.

TIP #3 - After many playthroughs, it seems the best way to get gold on this is to spam forward on the left stick so that the game registers you moving forward the instant the Walk prompt is displayed. Equally, spam the TRIANGLE button the closer you get to the chair in the Doctor's room to guarantee you sit as soon as the sit option is displayed.

TIP #4 - Upon leaving the Doctor, immediately turn right as close to the wall as you can. Turn right again as close to the corner as you can. Then walk in a direct straight line from the corner such that your line will place you in the middle of the train tracks toward the end of the street. Don't deviate left or right - the straightest possible line to the middle of the end of the street is essential to shave off the microseconds you need to complete this mission. Don't walk up the footpath either - the game will auto-correct your position to place you on the road, and that auto-correct will cost you the gold medal.

TIP #5 - I think it is near impossible to get this on a first playthrough. I had a save game that I replayed a dozen times and continually got bronze even with skipping cut scenes (which is why I think skipping cut scenes doesn't really help here). It is possible the initial sickness scene cuts into the timer, I don't know. In any case, I recommend using the replay option to make it easier and quicker on yourself. Plus, the first time you do it you can relax and watch the cut scenes without stressing out.

Good luck!
