Storming south out of Tualatin and up the 1% grade, Portland & Western train number 664's lead unit #2307 is heard well over a minute before she's seen. She began to suffer from a ground fault to the #2 traction motor, the engineer was able to get her back at first but you can hear it cut out for good right around the 2:45 mark and the train quickly slowed to a crawl on the steep grade.

Built in August, 1974, #2307 started life working for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe as #3606 before coming to the Willamette & Pacific (later the Portland & Western), being repainted, renumbered and named 'Independence' after a town in the central Willamette Valley of Oregon. Sadly, the successor Portland & Western no longer names their locomotives.

Shot at the Avery Street crossing outside Tualatin, Oregon, the video is cut short due to the fact I was about to run out of storage space on my SD card but it is in high definition so check your settings and thanks for watching!
