(26 Oct 2018) U.S. President Donald Trump tells reporters Friday that the pipe-bomb suspect was a Trump supporter, but he says he bears "no blame" for man's actions. "There is no blame, there is no anything," Trump said as he departed for a campaign rally in North Carolina. Reporters asked the president if he should tone down his rhetoric as the midterm elections approach. "Well, I think I've been toned down," he said. "You want to know the truth, I could really tone it up because as you know the media's been extremely unfair to me and to the Republican Party." "The media has been unbelievably unfair to Republicans, conservatives and certainly to me. But with all of that being said we're winning. So I like that. " He compared the series of threatening packages sent to prominent Democrats, former officials and CNN to how a Democratic supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders shot up a GOP baseball field last year, seriously injuring Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana. He also praised law enforcement efforts. He said the pipe bomb incident had hampered Republicans' momentum moving into the midterm elections.
