Since the MG buffs I've been working on a collection of MG footage to see what the little buggers can do. It honestly hasn't done my KDR or W/L any credit riding around in the 3C, but it's certainly been an interesting experience. For those uninitiated with crits, or confused as to why some clips end before they seem like they've started, here's a primer: Critical hits only do damage to items stored within unarmored components. What you should really look for in most of this video is the upper right hand corner of the screen. That list of items? That's what the majority of critseeking is aiming at. When you see a group of items suddenly go red, or a delay after hitting a gauss for a small internal explosion, or a delayed pulsing damage throughout the internals of the mech, that's what crits do. Mechs like the CDA-3C and SPD-5K have been selected by the Devs to specifically fulfill this role. MG's certainly do their job, however I find it's rather situational to base an entire mech on seeking crits without being able to create opportunities for yourself. The 3C, 5K, etc? Not incredibly powerful even though they certainly have some of the greatest crit potential. The HBK-4G(F) build was much better, as it could not only hold put down some hurt but strip a component moderately filled with items before its AC/20 could recycle.
